Space 1026 artisan Thom Lessner and his band of renowneds (Amanda Blank, Rose Luardo, Hot Tanya) make zealous mockery of '70s/'80s aerobic culture -- from the spandex tights outfits to the musky, sexed-up lyrics. In fact, Lessner and his ladies are a rude Tony Orlando and Dawn: sharp girlie voices shoved against his winded cackle. And the whole time he's ruminating lovingly about tube steaks, nut-sacks, beef stroganoff and finding chicken-and-hot-sauce while combing a lover's hair. Real push-push-in-the-bush stuff. Still, despite the percolating, tongue-in-cheek (and other places) synth-cheer, flanged guitars and fuck-suck dippy-chipper lyrics of 'Shit Genie' and 'Dream Beaver,' there's a queer sincerity to the silliness. -citypaper.net
