Sono Oto
Sono Oto has one consistent member, Mark Henry Phillips, and a rotating cast of NYC-based musicians (whose other projects include Sam Champion, Elvis Perkins in Dearland, and Bryan Scary & The Shredding Tears).
It's hard not to think of the Beatles when you hear Sono Oto's bouncy "Apple EP" but their live-show and previous albums show off songs that are sometimes folky, spacey, or produced into thick sound collages. The songs are almost always catchy but usually include unexpected twists.
Phillips grew up in Columbus in Ohio and moved to New York City at the age of 17. He scores films and ocassionally acts as a producer to other bands.
