2003, Overcoat
The new project of Vancouver-based Jason Zumpano (of 90's power pop band Zumpano). "Sparrow" is full of well-crafted melodies and irresistible hooks. The band cites "Baroque pop" as their biggest influence, taking cues from visionaries Phil Spector and Burt Bacharach, and artists like The Left Bank and The Beach Boys. They infuse elements of rock n' roll and classical composition to achieve what's been labeled "chamber pop"; a majestic orchestral sound that goes beyond a simple rock or pop melody.
