2004, Kill Shaman
Split release from The Manifolds and Day's End. The now-defunct Manifolds -- four ripped dudes and a chick with a sassy pair of pants -- fused an Estrus-like garage sound with discordant noisy effects, creating a mathematic yet bluesy brand of rock. They give us three tracks: "Red Hankey," "Testy," and "Turban Warface." On the flipside, you get " Over and Under" from the Day's End, a Long Beach-based group who have been compared to everything from Drive Like Jehu and Shellac to June of 44 and Black Eyes.
