2003, Dim Mak
Two tracks from each band. This Machine Kills from Goleta California play hardcore in the vein of Born Against, Bread and Circuits and Tragedy. They have released records with Ebullition, Coalition and others and now have decided to release music on singer Steve Aoki's label Dim Mak Records. The first song is in typical This Machine Kills fashion discussing male privilege and responsibility and the second song is their first electronic song taking a departure from their hardcore roots to the world of REASON. With a dancy and have beat 'Booby Traps' is done in the same fashion as Le Tigre with distorted vocals and great rhythmic nature. JR Ewing from Norway, have been releasing records for years on Coalition Records. Recently they were nominated as the the most influential band in Norway. They have toured with bands like the Locust and Sunshine among many others and have filled a void when Refused left the scene years ago. Their two tracks are in a departure from their previous recordings applying more singing to their screams and more style their hardcore. This split is a powerful departure for both bands.
