Junior Varsity KM is San Francisco's own Kenric McDowell, a handsome 20 year old ambient/drum & bass artist who looks a little like Ian Curtis and sounds like Flowchart or The Wake (Factory, mid-80s) if either ever tread down the jungle path. This EP is an introduction. This is listening music. It is music that is as enjoyable to listen to at home as it is out at an all night dance event. Raised on the blissed out English pop of Ride and The Cocteau Twins but sounding more like contemporaries Aphex Twin and Squarepusher, Junior Varsity bring together elements of pop electronic pop from the recent past with the beat of the present.
