2009, Hydra Head Records
'One of the strongest alternative metal releases of early 1999, Cavity's Supercollider combines the influence of Black Sabbath with elements of industrial noise and '90s alternative rock. While the slow, forceful guitarist riffs of Inside my Spine, Set in Cinders and other blistering gems recall Toni Iommi's contributions to early Sabbath, there's no mistaking Supercollider for an early '70s recording. The influence of industrial noise and alternative rock is too strong, and the tortured, screaming, distorted vocals are pure '90s. Ozzy Osbourne's singing with Sabbath was menacing, but he didn't go for the type of primal screaming you'll find on this album. One of the things that makes Supercollider so brutally heavy is Cavity's use of density. It is density that makes the free jazz of Charles Gayle, Albert Ayler and late-period John Coltrane so jolting, and density is the thing that can make Slayer, Pro-Pain and late '90s Testament heavier than even Judas Priest and Motorhead. Supercollider is as ferocious as it is inspired.' ~ Alex Henderson, All Music Guide
