The girl down the hall from my first apartment would sometimes leave her door open as she played the radio. Loretta Lynn, Patsy Cline, and Johnny Cash would take turns wandering down the hall, their voices wafting in like the cooking smells coming up from downstairs. One time, the girl told me what she thought love was - that it was nothing more than having a conscience. There have been different bands before, and different cities, and plenty of songs overheard in different rooms, and now these. I can't pretend to know if Blue Giant is the jolly green guy's sadder, more musical cousin, or if it'll flame out in a supernova in a couple million years. But right now the music's in the air, and sometimes you just need to catch it before it disappears.
