Based in San Francisco, California, Junior Varsity has made a name for himself with his previous left-of-center drum 'n' bass creations. His latest incarnation incorporates aspects of minimalist classical music composition, rich ambient coloring and an assertive, technical drum programming ethic. The startling results can be heard here together vie for best-of-the-year status in my book. Teledesic Disco is more focused, mature, and features a broader range of influences, especially the minimal music of Steve Reich & Lamonte Young and the new world vision of Debussy. Taken together, these two EPs are bridges of sonic of travel between states of being. Each track creates a different environment and the way they flow tells a story.
