2004, Kooky
Time flies, but Vini Reilly (aka Durutti Column) is fifty years young. On Tempus Fugit, he's stripped it down – all the music, the recording, the artwork is under his control – and the music feels more personal. The arrangements are simpler, sparse but involving. Much of the album looks back at last year's art commission live shows in Glasgow for the Tramway production "Treatise on the Steppenwolf." "Lullaby 4 Nina" and "Trip for an Opera" are two tracks to come out of this production in some form; other tracks are reworks of recent productions (the title track uses the lyrics to "Another Setting"’s "Spent Time").
