2005, Troubleman Unlimited
Spastic guitar heaves over with droning organs and feverish screaming, in a recipe for throbbing fall-through-the-dancefloor arty {post-hardcore}. Very much in the vein of bands such as the Shortwave Channel and Camera Obscura, the Song of Zarathustra weave a sense of urgency and face-first rock into spacy and drone-like patterns. From the first organ chords that push into thrashy, spitting outbursts on the first non-intro track, Mess of Zero, attention is grabbed at full throttle, setting the highest tone for what is to come through the rest of the 12 tracks. While not flawless or without weak points, The Birth of Tragedy is an undeniably solid and forceful {post-hardcore} album, yet another in the line of amazing releases from Troubleman Unlimited. ~ Blake Butler, All Music Guide
