2008, The Rebel Group
Pronounced ee-poks, this band has created a sprawling record from bombastic electronics to seething orchestration to playful rhythms. It never stops in one place long enough to be pigeonholed. It's this diversity that has allowed them to share the stage with such artists as The Walkmen and Tokyo Police Club to Lady Sovereign and Spank Rock. RIYL: Spank Rock, TV On The Radio, Klaxons, The Avalanches.

Customer Reviews

Jeff GumThe Epochs' biggest concern has always been originality in music; something that is easily seen on their debut, here. However, unlike other bands with similar views, the Epochs have taken a different approach, creating a unique meld of sincere baroque pop and head-bobbing electro. The result is a sound that sits straddling between funky and mellow, which sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. Simply put, they feel like they're trying to do too much: digestible and deep, but landing within range of neither. The final product is a decent listen, but by no way will these guys become your new favorite band.
