1996, K Records
Former Lync member Sam Jayne's debut solo album under the Love as Laughter moniker has a hodgepodge of garagey, guitar tunes mixed in with numerous short tracks of noise placed here and there. When Jayne actually plays some tunes, the rock sounds come out quite clear, akin to '60s {garage rock} as well as a good handful of more mainstream rock acts of that time which could surely be named. The Greks Bring Gifts is a good mix of the {indie pop} sensibilities Jayne displayed in Lync, quirky stylings associated with K Records, along with a true garage sound many of the garage revivalists wish they could produce. Although the album isn't nearly as accessible as Love as Laughter's later Sub Pop releases, this shouldn't be a hard stretch for any fans of K Records to enjoy. ~ Kurt Morris, All Music Guide
