The Heyday

Unavailable for more than 20 years, The Boutique Label is pleased to make available once more one of the most fascinating yet undervalued aural documents from the punk era. In August 1977, Fred and Judy Vermorel conducted candid interviews with the then-current line-up of the Sex Pistols – John Lydon, Paul Cook, Steve Jones and Sid Vicious – as well as ex-bassist Glen Matlock, who had departed six months earlier. These conversations were recorded for their book Sex Pistols, which duly appeared in 1978. The tapes catch the members of the band at an interesting point in their history, with Never Mind the Bollocks recorded but not yet in the shops, forced to play secret gigs in the UK as S.P.O.T.S., and just five months away from disintegration in January 1978 while on tour in the US.
This enhanced version of The Heyday runs for 70 minutes and has been digitally remastered by Fred Vermorel, now resident in Paris, lecturing internationally, and writing a book on celebrity and fan culture.
