2006, Tic Tac Totally
Do you really need to be sold on this record?! It's great. Exit, end, finish. But here's the required desc., garage trivia fodder + reviews..

2nd single from Thomas Function following the elusive OOP DNH debut single. It actually comes from the same tapes/sessions that the 1st DNH 7' came from. TTT + DNH split up that first session to simultaneously release these first 2 records. The Arkam, Dusty Medical and some of the forthcoming Alive material draws from a subsequent set of recording sessions made after these 2 singles came out. Not that that means a whole lot, but it's going to explain the recordings a bit. And just in case you wanted to be really cool, now you can save that gay trivia for inquisitive record nerds. The record sounds really not much like anything else 'to-a-tee' in any way. It's just a great rock n roll record. And it sounds like Thomas Function. It's a bit raw, round bass with balls, big kick drum, great rock mix with a cascading wall of guitar chime and keyboard floaters piled up just right. Made up from melodic vocals and keyboard/organ layered on solid poppy rock tunes. Do NOT think 'synths' or 'new-wave'...think KEYBOARD/ORGAN on ROCK. It's a good quality production with basement-booze-band spirit.

'One of my top 2007 finds (and perhaps yours as well - the word is most definitely out) is a young band from Huntsville, AL called THOMAS FUNCTION. Reminscient in so many ways of a stripped-down, keyboard-augmented, less grandeur-bound TELEVISION, two of their three 45s are among the finest & most deceptively catchy records of our aging decade so far. (I say 2 of the 3 because I haven't heard the new one yet - the label says it's 'in the mail'). I think the main guy's vocals come off as so much more real than others looking to recreate a pre-punk history for a post-punk world, and THOMAS FUNCTION are the sort of band that's going to appeal equally aging record dorks like myself and the new gaggle of teenage hipsters. Apparently the garage punk congnescenti dig 'em too.' -Jay DETAILED TWANG
