1969, Soundscreen Design
Manifest Destiny is a festival concept designed by Gordon Hull. Gordon is the founder and former creative director of NY by way of Paris, multimedia and fashion collective Surface to Air. Each limited edition design will be manufactured and printed right here in the USA on a 100% organic cotton apparel.
Brothers Jim and William Reid formed the band in Glasgow in 1983. Punk inspired, The Jesus and Mary Chain took the genre to a new level combining catchy melodies with huge distortion and feedback. After struggling to book gigs and gain label recognition the band began to just show up at random gigs and quickly set up, play a short set and abruptly leave. In 1984 the band signed to Creation Records to release the song “Upside Down.” After the release of the single The Jesus and Mary Chain went on to play a series of small gigs. These shows became infamous, as the band would play twenty-minute sets with their backs to the audience. In 1985 the legendary Psychocandy was released and a US tour soon followed. The band went on to release several more albums leading to their break up in 1999. In 2007 The Jesus and Mary Chain reunited to play Coachella.
