2011, Astralwerks
Based on a Hans Christian Andersen story, the world famous electronic pop duo Pet Shop Boys have composed an original score for their first ever full-length dance work in collaboration with London's renowned Sadler's Wells theatre. The production, The Most Incredible Thing, makes its world premiere in London. A team of world-class collaborators joined forces to create this modern fairy tale, which celebrates the power of art in the face of human destructions. Originally asked by Royal Ballet principal Ivan Putrov to write a score for him, Lowe and Tennant suggested that The Most Incredible Thing, with its resonant message of hope, would be the perfect narrative basis for a new ballet.
In a career spanning over two decades, Pet Shop Boys have created some of the most beloved and recognizable hits in the world. After conquering the West End with their musical Closer to Heavenand providing a soundtrack for the classic silent film Battleship Potemkin, the duo break new ground with their first ever ballet score.
