The Same

After releasing and touring extensively on their 2006 album Ideal Lives, Long Island band Rahim encountered a lineup change and began the year-long process of writing their most recent record, Laughter. "The Same," which will be released on limited-edition green 7" vinyl as well as digitally on the band's website, is the single from this record. The song itself, as well as its non-album b-side "When She Arrives," exemplify the stride Rahim has made with their new lineup. Again produced by J. Robbins, the songs are more fully realized than ever before, employing piano and synthesizer, additional percussion and the distinctive sounds of spackle buckets and garbage cans in assembling the bands stark and spectral vision. Rounding out the live act will be longtime friend and multi-instrumentalist Christian Little.

Rahim has toured and shared the stage previously with such bands as Thunderbirds Are Now!, Aloha, The Hold Steady, Les Savy Fav, Chin Up Chin Up, Appleseed Cast, Ponys and Antelope. They will tour Europe in November and the U.S. regionally upon the release of this single, and in anticipation of the 2008 release of their forthcoming full-length Laughter.
