2008, Green Owl Records
The So So Glos began when three kids from Brooklyn became brothers through the divorces and remarriages of their parents. To cover their ears from the fights of fucked marriages, brothers Alex Levine, Ryan Levine, and Zach Staggers listened to the record collections of their parents. Dancing to the likes of The Kinks, The Violent Femmes, David Bowie, The Jags, Grandmaster Flash, The Sex Pistols, Bob Dylan, T. Rex, Sam Cooke, The New York Dolls, Chuck Berry, and The Clash. The So So Glos grew up with a sense of real music.
As they got older and began to write their own music they became bored with a dead New York music scene. A scene that was once dominated by the punk rock of The Heartbreakers and the venues of CBGB and Max's Kansas City had turned into a playground for pseudo punk bands without the attitude and hippy fashion groups without politics. -selfportrait.net
