2004, Dischord
Debut album from this handsome Washington, D.C. five-piece. One of the members, Chad Clark, is a cornerstone of the D.C. music scene, working as a producer and engineer at the legendary Inner Ear Studios with bands like the Dismemberment Plan, mastering records at his Silver Sonya Studios for bands including Black Eyes and Q & Not U, and remastering much of Dischord's latest releases. He also spent time with the brilliant Smart Went Crazy, who released two incredible albums during their "five-year plan." Shortly after that group split, Clark formed Beauty Pill, continuing his legacy as an awesome force in D.C.-area musical happenings.
From the 50+ songs in the Beauty Pill song catalogue, the band has culled a full-length album. It is, as they say, a motherfucker. With airy vocals, sexy drumming, and a guitar, bass, and Wurlitzer electric piano, they've crafted twelve well-polished, slinky pop songs.
