2011, Merge Records
Merge Records proudly presents The Year of Magical Drinking, the debut album from Apex Manor. Recorded at three different studios around and about LA, The Year of Magical Drinking was produced by Dan Long (Film School, Local Natives) and former Broken West band mate Brian Whelan. Ross Flournoy and Whelan handled most of the instrumental duties, while Merge labelmates Ivan Howard (The Rosebuds) and Annie Hayden (Spent, solo) chimed in with vocal tracks. Ross closes with a song called "Coming To," about which Flournoy says: "In some sense it's literally about coming to - coming to one's senses, coming to some kind of understanding or acknowledgment of one's life and one's faults. That's the hopeful part - what remains to be seen is whether or not that newfound understanding is put to use, so to speak." Apex Manor is Ross Flournoy, Adam Vine, Brian Whelan, and Andy Creighton.

Customer Reviews

Zander PMy favorite album of the year so far. Urgent, honest, bright-eyed, sun-soaked. Simply delightful. Saw them on tour in Cambridge, and it was a terrific show. All the highest praises. I wish there were more bands like this.
