Hailing from San Diego, California and new to the Touch And Go family is The Black Heart Procession, with their second record, aptly titled "2" (their first release, on Headhunter, was called "1"). Formed in late 1997, the core of The Black Heart Procession consists of Pall Jenkins and Tobias Nathaniel, both of Three Mile Pilot, and ex-Clikatat Ikatowi drummer Mario Rubalcaba.

| Quite good. Many parts bring to mind a punker's Neil Young or Tom Waits, except some may argue that Tom Waits is a punker's Tom Waits, but I don't listen to Tom Waits. And I don't think this sounds too much like Tom Waits, because if it did, I wouldn't like it. I'm just saying this: this isn't exceptionally weird sounding, it's just lonely, broken-hearted music produced by 2-4 guys. The lyrics are also good, which is a must considering the type of music this is. And what type of music is it? Lonely music, that's what. | |
