Matterhorn (CD)
The Clips are Edo Van Breemen (vocals, lead keys), Jeremy Gruman (drums, violin), Michael Jones (guitars), Andrew Seeton (bass) and James Steidle (synths, digital effects), and their new brand of electro-pop-rock brilliance has already garnered them critical acclaim in radio-, web-, and print-based media, spawning opening slot performances for Holy Fuck and Metric, as well as appearances at Calgary's Sled Island Festival and a CBC-sponsored West Coast tour. All this prior to an official wide release or distribution deal. The emphatic five-piece created their debut album in a small DIY studio in a secret backyard garden shed on Canada's West coast. The result of a year-long marathon of recording efforts marred by lost drum and bass track disasters was followed by months spent mixing in the shed under the hot summer sun. Drawing on influences from Sigur Ros to Modest Mouse to the Stone Roses, out of the steaming wooden shack emerged the nine-track CD Matterhorn.
