The End of the World (MP3)
When it comes, will you be prepared? You'd best be, because the debut EP from Brooklyn's The End of World has descended upon you. After playing high-energy shows throughout the United Sates, The End of the World has emerged as a vital four-piece, fluidly combining a refined, melodic approach to songwriting with the guitar-heavy style of their New York contemporaries.
The band's primary challenge upon entering the studio was capturing the raw energy of the live show. Richard Marr (Sebadoh, Helium) recorded and mixed the basic tracks and Geoff Lipton (Magnetic Fields, Wilco, Big Star) mastered the album. The album's opener, "This Little Theater," displays the band's songwriting chops and its ability to seamlessly create a raw, powerful sound (it was recently featured in Jonathan Demme's remake of The Manchurian Candidate). As the EP progresses, the band's versatility comes into full view. From the more abrasive sound of "Faces," to the ballad feel of "Tuesday Becomes Wednesday," prepare to hear a band ready to live up to the hype of their name.
