The Real New Fall LP...Formerly Country on the Click (CD)
There is an obvious buzz and resurgence of interest surrounding The Fall. Much of this can be traced to Mark E. Smith's own enthusiasm about the Narnack release of "The Real New Fall LP," the strongest Fall album in years. For "The Real New Fall LP," Mark took control of the sound, direction, and texture of the album. Officially released in the UK last year on Action Records, Mark wasn't satisfied with the overall sound. For this Narnack release, he wanted to strip it down and decided to remaster the entire album. This energetic momentum prompted The Fall to add two brand new tracks and two alternate remixes.
The end result of this creative output is an album that has all the excitement and freshness of early Fall. With "The Real New Fall LP," they focus everything that makes them great onto one album. It's a brooding swirl of dark, dance-y rock songs, with electronic undercurrents that act like a shot of some bad coke in the mainline. After 27 years, Mark E. Smith continues to stay authentic, while still pioneering musical trends. As the title confidently boasts, it's clear that with this release, The Fall has taken its most significant leap forward in years. This is Mark E. Smith reclaiming his throne. ![]()
