On Disappearing (CD)
Evoking shades of The Zombies, Bill Fay, Galaxie 500, Josh Kasselman and Co. alternate seamlessly between psychedelic immediacy and winsome melancholy. Marked by frequent cross-fades and compelling patches of sound collage, On Disappearing is an engrossingly existential 35 minutes that seem to live outside of the realms of time and place.

| So happy to see this album starting to get some attention. Hope it gets more. It's so haunting and old and otherworldly. Takes a few spins to let it sink in but then it overtakes the mind. Sounds like it was recorded with two mics in the middle of the night in winter of 1971. Great if you're into lost folk or the quieter side of the Nuggets comps. Think dark, pensive, '70s AM radio pop. | |
