Wood/Water (CD)
New Promise Ring full-length. This new record on the Anti-label is very different from all their previous works, as it's more experimental and uses more instruments and different song structures. Even the vocals are totally different. This time, it's more smooth singing rather than the folk-ish tellings of before. Musically, it's still all about catchy melodies.
"Forget every double-hyphenated-muso-modifier you've ever heard. It's time to put that stuff on the side and get back to what that counts: songs, energy, authenticity and emotions in motion. No matter what you label it, The Promise Ring's ANTI- debut 'Wood/Water' is dripping with this stuff. We want 'Wood/Water' to be your best friend, the outside influence that makes you feel something when you just don't know what you feel."

| the promise ring has turned yet another page wth this new album. same band, completely new sound. they still hold the ability to engrave their chords into your skull on a continuous loop. i would say it is more similar to the pr of old, but nothing familiar, its all new ground. i cant guarantee that you'll love it, but i can tell you that i do. solid album. | |
