The Red Onions (CD)
The Red Onions knew they were on to something when the singer Paul Gonzalez hurled himself into the drum kit at their first practice. Like a lot of great punk bands, the Red Onions have unlikely and humble origins; they met while working at a Gardena California K-Mart. While they have gone in various directions with their day jobs the remainder of their lives is now focused upon writing music and recording as The Red Onions.
The songs on their new Fat Possum/Flapping Jet EP are tightly packed rock nuggets, with a proud low end and hair raising fuzz guitar solos. Recorded with John Reis(Hot Snakes, Drive like Jehu, Rocket From the Crypt), who knows a thing or two about Soul/Roots music, the EP is set to establish The Red Onions as the most vital band to emerge from Los Angeles' South Bay since Black Flag.
