

The Sick Lipstick
Toronto's Sick Lipstick fuses no wave, punk, and hints of riot grrrl into a challenging, confrontational sound. The band formed in 2001 after the likeminded Black Cat #13 disbanded; that band's singer, Lindsay Gillard, and keyboardist, Mark McLean, recruited guitarist Allan Graham and drummer Adrian to flesh out their new project's lineup. If the Go-Go's had let Darby Crash join their band, I think they might have sounded a lot like The Sick Lipstick. Hailing from Ontario, Canada, The Sick Lipstick are composed of half of what made up the short-lived-but-ever-so-popular Black Cat #13. The Sick Lipstick formed in early 2001, shortly after the demise of Lindsey and Mark's previous band, Black Cat #13.
