Spinto Band

The Spinto story started back in 1996 when Nick Krill found some songs in the attic penned on the back of Cracker Jack boxes by his grandfather, guitar player Roy Spinto. Those lyrics inspired Nick and 6 of his high school friends to form The Spinto Band penning their own songs that the Philadelphia Weekly calls "...unlikely beauties somewhere between Pavement, Yo La Tengo and the Flaming Lips."

The Spinto Band interlace rich, textured guitars, unconventional orchestration, and multiple-part vocal harmonies into exciting new avenues of indie pop. The music is at once outlandish, kinetic, and luminous, while still restrained in a way that pays homage to the classic pop song, bringing to mind a contemporary coagulum of The Beatles, Berlin, and Bowie.

Following up the their well-received 2006 effort, Nice and Nicely Done, Delaware indie rockers Spinto Band deliver more angular, rambunctiously creative pop on 2008's Moonwink. Nonetheless, Spinto Band are a ceaselessly melodic ensemble and here they mix such pop touchstones as '60s psychedelic pop and '80s new wave wi [ read more ]
