I have to say that is album is the veritable SHIT. It's awesome. It's crazy, that's given, but it's great because it's crazy. You have to be in the right mood for this album. It's not meant to be deep and life-changing. It's feel good, dancing in your bedroom, sort of spazzy, Canadian goodness. That's that. (So suck it Beavercreek!)

Every song on ''Who Will Cut Our Hair When We're Gone?'' is perfect. Why? Because there's only one song. It's called ''The Clap.'' Everything else is a brilliant pop melody worthy of being ignored because it doesn't fit into the grand scheme of things. Outside of the aforementioned track, almost nothing on this record comes together. The Unicorns are so incapable of writing real songs that they just threw their best melodies into random heaps---and that is why this much-lauded record fails. Thankfully, Islands' ''Return to the Sea'' corrected those errors a few years later.

Goofy, nonsensical, clever, and fucking beautiful music. We all love it, right? Well that's the Unicorns in a nutshell. Experimental indie-pop just sounds awesome, doesn't it? The album in question, "Who Will Cut Our Hair When We're Gone?" is a great example of fresh music. Rather than having refrains and all that, The Unicorns keep you interested with songs that are constantly changing. The album opens with 'I Don't Want To Die' which can't be called one of those songs that 'sets the tone for the album' because the album doesn't really have a set tone (unless you consider original, creative, or awesome a tone.) 'Jellybones,' the fifth song on the album, is a song about a patient that goes to the hospital and is diagnosed with a condition known as 'jellybones.' Yeah, it rocks. The lyrics aren't the only great thing about "Who Will Cut Our Hair?" The music in one song alone can go from danceable, to mellow, to rock-out sweet. All the songs feature a great mix of guitar, keyboard, and drums that can totally make you fall in love with music all over again. The album finishes with 'I'm Ready To Die,' providing a stark contrast to the lyrics of the first song, and sounding a lot like an Emily Dickinson poem. All in all, "Who Will Cut Our Hair When We're Gone?" makes for a great album if you're in the mood for something a little different. A definite buy.
