2011, Year Seven Records
It's been a very exciting 12 months for British acid folk duo Smoke Fairies (Jessica Davies & Katherine Blamire). After releasing three well-received and now highly collectible 7" singles, and recording their fourth on Jack White's Third Man Records, they are now set to release their critically acclaimed debut full-length album Through Low Light and Trees in the US. Through Low Light and Trees smoulders with an honest, often painful emotional intimacy. "A lot of our songs are drawn from the experience of traveling around and leaving, or feeling distant and out of place, and the heartache that comes from looking back and longing," says Katherine. The result is an exquisite blend of alternative folk-rock, without doubt a more humid, bluesy brand of the genre; a sound that is both eerily ancient and thrillingly modern.
The first 1000 copies of the Smoke Fairies' album will be released as a limited edition double-CD (in a Digipak) with 6 bonus tracks not previously available.
