The festival catapulted Santana's self-titled debut album to the number one spot on the U.S. charts and on to superstardom. However, before Woodstock, Santana had been playing live around the Bay Area for more than two years, as this collection of live tracks recorded during that early period 1968/69 at different Bay Area locations, can attest.
