HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.Timesbold hails from Brooklyn NY. With a fistful of songs and more instruments than hands, the band combines lyrical
images compiled by lead vocalist Jason Merritt (a.k.a. Whip) with fittingly fractured instrumentation composed by Max
Lichtenstein and Dan Goebel. Together they conjure up an atmosphere of tone, texture and noise using an arsenal that
includes mellotron, harmonium, banjo, vibraphones, bowed saw, lo-fi electronics, old vinyl and much more...
Merritt is not seeking anything as lofty as enlightenment with his work, but simply a playful re-arrangement of the world that’s already out there to see, feel and hear. Observations jotted on scraps of paper and bookspines- syllables and phrases- are transcended by the only possible means available; that of melody and melancholy. Melancholy is the even keel; not too jovial and not too depressing. It is the great general discomfort. It is using a fishing rod to fly a kite over the ocean so far that you can’t see it any more, can’t reel it in. You just have to cut it loose.
