2004, XL
Away from the eyes and ears of the mainstream, there is a scene growing stronger by the day. A scene which sits somewhere between ragga, US rap, UK garage, and jungle...the new sound of the British inner city. The sound of Wiley. Wiley is an artist who has been involved in this underground scene for years, and is now one of its most respected producers. Once a part of the influential Pay As U Go cartel in the late '90s, he went on to form the Roll Deep Crew (which once boasted Dizzee Rascal as a member) and has been busy spearheading this new sound emerging from the ashes of UK Garage. Over two years he has become an increasingly important producer, releasing 24 singles and countless collaborations and remixes. VICE said, "Right now, Wiley=God." We guess grimy boys are here to stay.
