Migration (CD)
The second album from Treasure State further refines their minimal, earnest songwriting approach. Stripped-down and airy composition that puts each note and cymbal hit in its proper place, guitar arpeggiations that rise and fall, and vocals that that keep the fragility of the songs solidly intact.
Treasure State is a trio of seasoned musicians from Seattle who used a traditional rock palette (bass, drums, guitar and vocals) to create something far more subtle and refined than most muster with similar tools. Formed in 2000, the group quietly released their first album, Retain The Risk in 2002, garnering a smattering of high praise in the press and considerable radio play. The band promptly embarked on a national tour with The Shins. They have also shared bills with notables Crooked Fingers, Spoon, and Mates of State. The songs on this, their sophomore album, Migration faithfully document the band's progress in the intervening span, capturing their craftsmanship and the purity of their live delivery.![]()
