VINYL FORMAT. "Truck Driving Man" b/w "The Russians Are Coming, The Russians Are Coming." A half-hearted Harvard student in 1965, Gram Parsons wasn't thrilled about attending classes. He much preferred hanging around the fervent Cambridge/Boston folk scene, playing with many different musicians until he met guitarist John Nuese. Nuese encouraged Parsons to steer away from folk towards country, setting him on a path that would eventually win him international acclaim. Lifting the name from a classic "Our Gang" skit, Parsons and Nuese formed the International Submarine Band and relocated to New York City. In 1966, they found a home at Ascot records, who released their first 7-inch. At the time, the single, which paired two cover songs, didn't make much of an impression, but now their version of "Truck Driving Man" has come to be regarded as THE first country rock recording. Out of print for decades, this incredibly important single is back, sourced from the original analog mono mastered and packed in a brilliant picture sleeve.
