Galaxie 500 existed only from 1986 until 1991. Although their albums were revered by critics, it wasn’t until after they disbanded that the group emerged as one of the pioneers of the post-punk, dreamy, slow core movement. Galaxie 500 recorded only three studio albums in their short career, but sparked a revolution in ambient rock and roll.

Uncollected Galaxie 500 includes 14 unreleased songs from all three album sessions, rarities from limited edition singles and compilations, covers of songs by both the Beatles AND The Rutles, and the band’s first demo tape.

For years the only way fans could get their hands on these songs was to buy the 4 CD Galaxie 500 Box Set. Unavailable for many years, it is now an expensive collector’s item, selling for over $100. Rykodisc is pleased to announce the release of this amazing disc as a stand-alone release at last!
