2006, Sub Pop Records
Guitarist/vocalist Rick White says they play 'sappy melodic pop music on top of thick distortion.' Yep. Pitting their strong pop hooks and sweet boy-girl vocals against a wild guitar rock sound, weird rhythmic sensibilities, random noise, and found sounds, Elevator Through find as much beauty in fuzz and static in Vague Premonition. Live, they sandwich little moments of sweet relief between layers of deafening, invigorating noise which belie their mellow demeanor. Vague Premonition is one of the few truly unjaded noise-pop albums around, taking the best of modern without adopting the dogmatic 'indie' stance that plagues so many bands.
