Gnarls Barkley Cool Jazz Tribute (CD)
Because there's no end to possibilities for Gnarls Barkley's music, apparently, Danger Mouse's keys and strings and Cee-Lo's smooth vocals are replaced by saxes and synths in the Gnarls Barkley Cool Jazz Tribute, which takes 10 of the 14 songs from the duo's debut album, St. Elsewhere, and gives them the jazz-esque treatments. The point of this is pretty unclear, however: why listen to a bad cover of "Crazy" when there's the original? why suffer through an only mildly entertaining version of "Who Cares?" when there are better options? Even for huge Gnarls Barkley fans, it's hard to figure out a good reason why the Cool Jazz Tribute should be paid much attention to. ~ Marisa Brown, All Music Guide
