Very Rec

Very Rec is Vancouver producer Secret Mommy’s (aka Andy Dixon) fourth release of ADD-afflicted glitch pop. Dixon has gained a reputation in the electronic music world for being a very experimental and rather ironic producer, crafting his masterpieces of fizzy glitchtronica from sounds found in every day life, (like his 2004 release Hawaii 5.0 which was compiled completely of sounds discovered on a vacation to the island). Very Rec is nothing less, and this time Dixon’s brilliance takes him to various recreational centers where the listener encounters a whole new world of familiar noises. Very Rec is an album which doesn’t take itself too seriously, always slightly poking fun at uber-serious techno producers. But while his ideas may come across as somewhat slapstick, his songs are never sloppy and always crafted with the utmost of care and precision. Very Rec is an electronic masterpiece showcasing the talent of a producer who isn’t afraid to step out from behind his dimly lit, laptop studio cave and into an entirely new world of electronic experimentalism…the real world.
