San Diego's Lights On is the collaborative creation of Tim Hines and Mike Kamoo. Tim and Mike had played in other bands around San Diego that had seen highs and lows, good press, and European tours. In 2006, wielding a handful of new ideas, melodies, lyrics and chords, Tim came to Mike to formulate something new. Using San Diego's well known Earthling Studios (which Mike Kamoo owns) as their canvas, they recorded "Listen to the Radio" and knew that they had something amazing and fresh at hand. Blending a hybrid of Post-Punk guitars, Electronic/New Wave melodies fused into a modern indie rock aesthetic, Lights On was born.
Lights On's debut 5 song E.P. Waiting For The Heart To Beat offers a wide range of the band's songwriting talents and stylistic diversities. Taking cues and a pop sensibility from the likes of Nick Lowe, The Modern Lovers and Serge Gainsbourg, while often favorably compared to Echo and the Bunnymen, New Order and early Cure, Lights On boasts to be an "ever-changing musical spectrum, always moving forward with apt experimentation with sounds."
