2003, Plastiq Musiq
Sporting the catchy title "We Are Eyes. We Are Builders," the band's impressive album melds the vocal style and dance beats of Erasure, New Order and Code of Ethics with the futuristic synth effects of Kraftwerk, Joy Electric and Goodnight Star to produce an uptempo, club-friendly sound that will appeal to fans of experimental and commercial synth-pop alike. Notable songs include the danceable "Commute," "Breakdown" and "Candy Girl," as well as the pop-oriented "Marbeleyzed" and the mid-tempo "China." The best track, however, is the sci-fi-oriented "Soviet Bot," which borders on experimental electronica sounds with its club-friendly beats, spacey synths and rap interludes. A superb release by a promising band, "We Are Eyes. We Are Builders" shows that Plastiq Musiq is still a label to be reckoned with.

miss nessTop Notch. This album is all synth and recycled sounds, but please - it's soo good! So catchy. So cheesy. If not for the sounds then definitely for the lyrics, whatever, I don't care, it's just been a staple to my listening ear for years. If you like the fun Daft Punk incorporates but something as dancable as Vitalic, then Soviet is it for you. Listening recommendation? Track 5, promise.
