2011, Friday Music
VINYL FORMAT. On limited edition gatefold 180 gram gold vinyl! Grand Funk Railroad have continued to be one of the biggest selling artists of all time. Their historic concerts are legendary, their albums are all important achievements of the classic rock era, and their continuing fan base is second to none. We're An American Band changed history for this multi-platinum act as it rose to the top of the charts and brought them more deserved fame. As the anthem title track and album took off, even more chart action unfolded with hits like "Walk Like a Man (You Can Call Me Your Man)." This groundbreaking album also included some very hard hitting rockers like "Black Licorice," "The Railroad" and the fan favorite "Stop Looking Back." Led by the dynamic lead guitar and vocals of the legendary Mark Farner, the incredible power drummer/vocalist Don Brewer, the thumping bass of Mel Schacher and the arrival of their new member Craig Frost on keyboards, this new energized sound of Grand Funk - now produced by Todd Rundgren (Meat Loaf, Badfinger) - were recordings made for the history books, as this amazing album has surely stood the test of time. Friday Music is very honored to announce the Grand Funk Railroad 180 Gram Audiophile Vinyl Series with our first installment, the ever popular We're An American Band. Mastered impeccably from the original Capitol Records tapes by Joe Reagoso at Friday Music Studios and at Capitol Mastering with Ron McMaster, this super limited edition album is now pressed for the first time on 180 Gram Audiophile grade vinyl, and packaged in a super cool gatefold cover with the original art elements as you remember them. And for a very limited run, the record is pressed on gold vinyl, as it was originally presented in 1973! This will be one of the most anticipated heavy rock offerings of the new year in the audiophile domain, and a highly collectable one at that!
