Wet Paint: Vol. 1

VINYL FORMAT. Wet Paint: Vol. One is the first of what will be an ongoing series of splits featuring up and coming bands from the Oklahoma and Austin areas. The Mean Spirits are a feisty and catchy three piece who have managed to take simple ideas, and turn them into something that is downright odd. They're the kind of band you hope to catch in a bar where you don't remember how you even got there. You don't know who this band is that is playing, but you look down and your foot is tapping. You stand up and your hips are swaying. And you wake up the next morning and their songs you're humming.

Dikes of Holland are most certainly odd, but in a more primal way. They have developed a reputation in Austin for their blisteringly raw and kinetic live shows. The Austin Chronicle recently named them as an Austin band to watch in 2010. They also attracted the interest of Matador Records, being featured on the Austin compilation Casual Victim Pile.
