2009, Ipecac Recordings
Trevor Dunn, co-founder, composer and bass player for a multitude of bands, including Mr. Bungle and Fantomas, partner to modern day madmen John Zorn and Mike Patton, is set to release his second album with his latest band Madlove.
Madlove was recorded at Brooklyn's Studio G, with a hand picked line-up consisting of Sunny Kim (vocals), Hilmar Jensson (guitar) and Ches Smith (drums). Keyboardist Erik Deutch, who plays with Devotchka and Charlie Hunter, is also on board.
The music of Madlove fits snugly somewhere in the genre of "rock." There is no question that the songs are guitar-centric. Some of the songs are fairly commercial, some will never see the light of radio, some utilize the classic form of verse-chorus-verse, while others dare to hide from within theme and variation. And somehow, on White With Foam, it all sounds both cohesive and amazing.
