It was produced by Nick Launay (who oversaw the band's 2007 EP Is Is) and TV on the Radio's Dave Sitek. YYY's billowing cloud of avant-rock is invaded by a clutch of disco synths, adding new areas of tempo, personality, and atmosphere to the already-transcendent trio. Guitarist Nick Zinner steers the course with imaginative guitar work, drummer Brian Chase probably hasn't had this much fun drumming on a record before, and Karen O wraps herself in electrical-taped chiffon for the disco drag-outs "Zero," "Heads Will Roll," and "Dragon Queen."
