As Karen O plays a creature of pure impulse, the songs provide rigorous structure while they egg her on. The music worked just fine as stomping dance tracks, with Nick Zinner's boisterous guitar riffs matched to Brian Chase's unswerving drum beats. But the songs were more than basic propulsion.
