No one else plays music there like this, or even a remote approximation. "Young Money," their second release, is a dark record, one whose sonic texture and songwriting represents a radical departure from their first full-length, "Amplitudes of Frequencies Over Time." Whereas "Amplitudes" was almost exclusively vocal-free, while "Young Money" has vocals on every track, with guitarist A.P. Schroder sounding like a drunken lounge singer up for a week on crank. Eric Junge, formerly of the now-defunct prog-visionaries Vermilion, has supplanted Jim Acquavella. Jeff Woodke's basslines have taken on a lust-driven, sultry quality that lends a sexiness to the music. Think US Maple misinterpreting early-June of '44. C'mon. Have some ugly with your beauty.
