2004 Reflections:

Were there any specific events that happened during 2004, that impacted your music or music in general?

We were all really happy about the Inches 7” collection release. It was a project that meant a lot to us as the idea was formed when the band formed. When the record came out we went on tour with The Faint for 4 or 5 weeks. It was one of the best tours we have ever been on. The shows were perfect as well as the company.

Tell us a memory or story around the songs on Inches? Why were they important to you guys?

It was personally really important to the band to finish the record. We became obsessed with finishing the singles for the 7". I do have good memories of recording with PHIL EK at Bear Creek for some of those songs. It was also our new beginning working with Chris Zane. I feel the two producers really helped us hear our songs better. We learned a lot from those two. We love them.

Do you have any Insound specific memories? A story about an awesome record you purchased or feeling you had when you heard that you were a top seller at Insound in 2004?

I feel the Insound was crucial to establishing the majority of "Indie Rock" bands through independent distribution. Insound gave small labels like French Kiss and bands like us- Les Savy Fav a platform to help sell our records and in the process learn more about other bands. In the early years Insound helped support this new era of music and it's community. I remember buying Rye Coalition's Hee Saw Dhuh Kaet off Insound - One of Les Savy Fav's favorite records. We later toured with them that summer when Rye was supporting Hee Saw Dhuh Kaet. It was one of our favorite tours and without Insound, I don't know if we would have heard the record, booked the tour and become such good friends with those guys.
